Portfolio crisis in Karnataka govt over |
|
Tuesday, 10 June 2008 |
The political crisis looming over the B S Yeddyurappa-led first BJP ministry in Karnataka due to the unhappiness among several ministers over the allocation of portfolios and districts seems to have blown over, at least for the time being.
Senior BJP leader and former state party president K S Easwarappa, who was eying home or water resources, was reportedly miffed at being given the energy portfolio, while new-comer Basavaraj Bommai, who joined from JD(U), was given charge of the water resources. Another new-comer Shobha Karandlaje has been put in charge of the weighty rural development and panchayat department to the envy of other ministers.
Though the two Bellary mine owners G Janardhana Reddy and G Karunakar Reddy, have been entrusted with tourism and revenue, while another close associate B Sriramulu is given health and family welfare, the trio are learnt to have demanded mines and geology, forests, home and transport departments. |
