Tobacco prices at auctions in Karnataka have hit records, with average rates exceeding the previous peak achieved in Andhra Pradesh last year by about 30 per cent and settled at about Rs 110 a kg.
“The prices at the on-going Karnataka auctions ruled at an average of Rs 109.85 a kg as on January 22, compared with the previous record of Rs 84.85 a kg struck during the auctions in Andhra Pradesh in 2008,'' a senior official with Guntur-based Tobacco Board said.
