Abu Dhabi: Award Winning Kannada Movie 'Gulabi Talkies' Print E-mail

ImageInternationally acclaimed and much awarded Film Director Girish Kasaravalli is in Abu Dhabi at the invitation of MEIFF.

Kasarvalli’s recent film in Kannada "GULABI TALKIES" will be shown in Middle East International Film Festival (MEIFF ) being held in Abu Dhabi from 10th to 20 October 2008.

This film is the competitive entry from India .The film has already won TWO major awards (Best Film and Best Actress-for Umashree) at the recently concluded OSIAN's CINE FAN FILM FESTIVAL OF ASIAN CINEMA. It was recently released in Bangalore where critics called it a major contemporary classic of Kannada Cinema.

Girish Kasaravalli has to his distinction four Golden Lotus Awards for the twelve films he has directed so far. He is a perfectionist and works on his script and screenplay for months together and is about to create history as there is all the possibilities that this recent movie will also bag coveted Lotus.

Vinod Prabhakar debuts into Kollywood Print E-mail

ImageThe muscular hero of Kannada cinema 6 feet and 2 inches tall Vinod Prabhakar – son of late actor Kannada Prabhakar, one of the most powerful villains in many movies like Muthu, Annamalai, Bhadrakali, Thai Meedu Sathyam and several other films, has come all the way from the Kannada industry to try his luck in Kollywood.

He is all set to debut in Tamil with the movie Paalai, to be directed by debutant AC Shivananda who assisted Sahodaran director R Bharathan for seven years. "Paalai, produced by M Selvaraj under the banner of SRS Cine Arts, is my first film in Tamil but I have done ten movies in Kannada prior to this. M Selvaraj is a good friend and when he was making this film he thought I fit the role and so here I am," Vinod said during an interview given to a website affiliated to a newspaper.

Darshan signs another action flick, plays double role Print E-mail

After doing hit movie “Gaja” this year, Kannada action star Darshan has teamed up with debutant director Raghuraj for another action film titled “Boss”. The actor plays a double role and says he has signed it just for his fans.”I have not signed the film out of any compulsions, but the fact is that some of my fans were telling me that I should again do films like ‘Kariya’, ‘Daasa’, ‘Shashthri’, 'Gaja’ and ‘Indra’, which have strengthened my action image,” Darshan told here.

” ‘Boss’ will also have many action sequences. This will be a different type of action film for me,” the actor added.

Darshan will have Navya Nair, who starred with him in “Gaja”, and Rekha of “Hudugaaata” fame as his leading ladies in the movie.
