Wednesday, 20 August 2008 |
Navagraha, a totally different film featuring seven heroes and two heroines, is in its final stages. One of the highlights of the film is that all the seven heroes are sons of villains in Kannada films. Darshan is the son of Togudeepa Srinivas, Vinod is the son of Tiger Prabhakar, Nagendra Urs is the son of Sundarakrishna Urs, Giri is the son of Dinesh, Srujan is the son of Lokesh, Dharma is the son of Keerthiraj and as the title implies, they play important roles in Navagraha. Sharmila Mandre and Varsha are the two heroines. |

Sridevi goes to Tollywood |
Wednesday, 20 August 2008 |
After getting a very cherubic debut as a child star in Rickshaw Mama, the classic beauty Sridevi Vijaykumar (Manjula's and Vijaykumar's daughter) had little luck as a young heroine in Kollywood in spite of her parents' solid support. After movies like Devadaiye Kandain and Thithikudhey, she has now turned her attention to Telugu and Kannada movies, as she wants to concentrate on meaty roles.
At present, she is busy with the Kannada remake of the Vijay-Shalini starrer, Kaadhalukku Mariyadhai, which was a super-duper hit among teens and parents alike for its novel propagation of love marriages and parental obedience. Except for her, the rest of the cast are all newcomers. |

Kichcha Sudeep turns director once again |
Sunday, 17 August 2008 |
Kannada actor Sudeep is now busy with his third directorial venture Veera Madakari. And apart from wielding the megaphone, the film star will also be playing a double role in the film.
Acting, getting permission to shoot some scenes in a mall here and working out changes in dialogues of the sequence to be shot the next day - Sudeep is kept on his toes for the project that was earlier to be made by director Sadhu Kokila.
"Producer Dinesh Gandhi had planned this film with Sadhu as director. But there were some problems relating to Sadhu's availability, while Gandhi wanted to start his film immediately. I accepted this responsibility after being persuaded by Gandhi. Even Sadhu was happy that I am directing this film," Sudeep told on Sunday.
He, however, said that Sadhu would be seen in Veera Madakari as an actor.
"He is busy finishing work for Theertha and he had some acting commitments also," the actor-director said. |

Film Chamber assures Kuselan's release in Karnataka |
Tuesday, 29 July 2008 |
Finally, the Kannada Film Chamber decided to allow Superstar Rajinikanth's Kuselan for a smooth screening in the Tamil dominated City Bangalore and other parts of Karnataka with limited number of prints. Now the film is going to release in 13 theaters in Bangalore City with 10 prints. The film will hit the screens in other parts like Mysore, Mandya, Hasan, Mangalore and Kollegal as planned earlier.
Kannada Rakshana Vedhike, one of the pro Kannada outfits in the state, threatened that they would never allow the film to screen in any part of Karnataka due to Rajinikanth's anti-Kannada statements in Hogenakkal water dispute. Some other organisations compelled the Film Chamber to order Kuselan distributor to release the film only after a seven week moratorium, due to Rajinikanth's anti Kannada speech during the fast organised by Tamil film industry. |
