While one may think that the only way a Maoist would like to see a policeman is through the sight of a gun, the Maoists in Karnataka think that a bit of sympathy for the foe in Khaki may help them in the long run.
Maoists in Karnataka are reportedly developing a ‘soft corner’ towards police constables in a strategic move to divide the police cadre.
According a senior IPS official, Maoists are discussing the problems of police constables demanding that they be given the facilities that their seniors enjoy. The ultras seek higher salaries and better financial status for constables on par with their higher-ups.
“Naxals believe that the strategy will result in the police constables ‘reciprocating’ their ‘soft corner’ and that they can avoid fatal encounters,” the IPS official said. The officer says that there is proof of Maoists discussing the problems of constables as part of their strategy. |

“It is my bad luck that I entered national politics,” said former prime minister HD Deve Gowda in Gulbarga on Thursday.
He said if he would have stayed in state politics, and rejected the offer of the national stage, things would have been different in the state. “As I was busy in national politics, issues like NICE took a new turn. The former PM said he was a born fighter and would fight this issue and the matters related to farmers till they reach a logical end.
