Andhra,Karnataka to rebuild Tungabhadra bridge

ImageAndhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Friday met his Karnataka counterpart B S Yeddyurappa and the two leaders decided to seek funds from the Centre for repair of roads and bridges damaged in the unprecedented devastation due to floods in both the states.

Both the CMs have also agreed to share the cost of rebuilding the Tungabhadra bridge which connects Raichur in Karnataka and Mantralaya in Andhra Pradesh.

The bridge was damaged in the rain fury which claimed over 300 lives in both the states, besides destroying crops and damaging property.

The cost of repairing the bridge is estimated to be Rs 36 crore. Both the CMs have also agreed to construct a new bridge at a cost of Rs 300 crore as a permanent measure.
The Andhra CM also said that there was constant communication between him and and Yeddyurappa to regulate the release of water from the dams of Karnataka to Andhra Pradesh. In the city, Rosaiah also felicitated Air Force men for their help in rescue operations in AP and Karanarka.
