| 21 hospitals to be upgraded in North Karnataka |

Karnataka Government on Thursday accorded administrative approval for upgrading hopsitals in 21 backward taluks of North Karnataka region with an expenditure of Rs 83 crore. The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa took a decision to this effect on the basis of the report submitted by D M Nanjundappa Committee on regional imbalance, Minister for Rural Developoment Shobha Karandlaje told here. During the current fiscal the government would be spending Rs 25 crore on the project, she said. The cabinet also gave administrative approval for the Rs 951 crore Bhadra irrigation project envisaged for irrigating about one lakh hectares of land and for the revised estimate of the Hipparagi irrigation project costing Rs 1521 crore, she said. The government has decided to release Rs 17.5 crore for constructing Engineering college buildings at K R Pet, Chamarajnagar, Haveri, Bellary and Kushalnagar, she said. |
