Wednesday, 12 May 2010
Dr Virupakshi, who is attending former minister Halappa at the Mcgann Hospital, said that his condition was stable on Tuesday.

Virupakshi told reporters at the Mcgann Hospital on Tuesday that Halappa has been treated for asthma, diabetes, hypertension and hypothyroidism. He has been an asthma and diabetes patient for about 10 years, so the blood vessels and heart might be damaged.

His condition may further aggravate due to stress. We have no angiogram facility, hence we will get a second opinion from the experts in Bangalore, he explained.

On the former minister's refusal to give a blood sample, Mcgann Hospital medical superintendent Dr SK Mahendrappa said that CID personnel had submitted a list demanding certain extracts. When he refused to give a blood sample, CID officer Yogappa struck off this demand from the list. If the doctors require a blood sample for a DNA test, we will take it in the presence of the magistrate, he added.

Naxals surface in Sringeri Print E-mail
Thursday, 06 May 2010
Naxal activities has surfaced again in Bukadibailu, a remote village in Nemmar gram panchayat in Sringeri taluk.

Police recovered six banners and pamphlets from various places in Sringeri on Wednesday.

The pamphlets flayed Home Minister P Chidambaram and Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa for trying to curb the people's movement. It also condemned Pejawar seer for his ‘so-called concern for the poor.’ Another pamphlet pays tribute to recently-killed Vasantha and pledged to continue the struggle till the goal is achieved. Interestingly, they have not given a call to boycott the polls, instead they throw light on the ‘deficiency’ in the system. The pamphlets tell the state home minister not to be complacent about curbing the people's movement as naxals have the strength to tackle police threat. Naxals have made demands like upgradation of the hospital at Bukadibailu and a permanent doctor, bus service to villages, bridges to roads and distribution of pattas.
