Tension gripped Bagalkot on Tuesday after stones were allegedly pelted at temples on Monday night. Activists of the Hindu Dharma Raksha Samiti and other organisations staged a protest near Basaveshwara Circle on Tuesday morning and called for a bandh on Wednesday.
They submitted a memorandum to Assistant Commissioner Shivanand Kapse. The demands of the Samiti include: arrest the miscreants responsible for damaging temples, arrest those involved in stone-pelting during Ganesh festival, vacate the rikshaw stand near Mehaboobsab dargah and Handral’s house, shift paan shops near Panka Masjid, vacate unauthorised sheds behind Primary School Number 1.
