It is now sure that some murmurs within the party have begun over the induction of new ministers and the new MLAs into the party. Mr. Yeddyurappa himself appears to be not happy the way it is going and the state party president D.V. Sadananda Gowda has stayed aloof from the party affairs for last one week since the three MLAs from JDs and Congress joined the party. It has come as a shock to the old timer BJP leaders that those MLAs who have been in other parties have joined the party and have become ministers over night and those old timers who have won from their respective constituencies for more than 4 times have not even been given a board president's job let alone being given ministry. The seething dissent came into open when many senior party leaders including the party state president D.V. Sadananda Gowda abstained from attending the swearing in ceremony at Raj Bhavan on Thursday. He has not been sent an invitation by the CM's office say circles close to Mr. Gowda. He was at Puttur when the swearing in ceremony took place. On the other hand Mr. Yeddyurappa also appear to be nonchalant about the MLAs of other parties joining BJP. Mr. Yeddyurappa when questioned at a public gathering said "he had no clue who was joining the party, but surely knew there were some youngsters who were keen on joining the party and have been brought into the party fold by Sriramulu." For a question asked by Mangalorean.com, if the old timers had objected to new inclusions into the ministry Mr. Yeddyurappa said we need new people specially youngsters who can work in tandem with the party's programmes, but that does not mean we are sidelining to the old guards, they are the main substance of the party." But party circles feel that, by succumbing to the overtures made by the Reddy brothers and Sriramulu and others from Bellary district the Chief Minister was weakening the party roots. Everybody knows that Sriramulu, Janardhan Reddy, Karunakar Reddy thrive by illegal mining of iron ore and they have the power of money with which they are poaching MLAs from other parties. The new batch that includes Balachandra Jarkiholi and the young Asnotikar that joined the party have also been the product of money power, they point out. Mr. Gowda when contacted did not react to that effect but gave a morose answer that he was happy that the party was now attracting young people. While the mentor of the party -Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has not been so happy about the party going the money way. Many of the workers of the RSS have been talking about party losing sight of ideals and standards laid down by RSS and VHP and was being led into the trap of being yet another party without any scruples. |
