Hunt for Kingpin in Subba Rao Murder Still On - SP

Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police (SP) Sateeshkumar produced the alleged murderer of city-based builder  Subba Rao before the media on Saturday July 26. Sandeep alias Rock, resident of Shaktinagar in the city, is the person arrested by the police in connection with the builder's murder. Rao was murdered on July 30, 2007 at about 9.45 pm. SP said that two persons executed the murder of Subba Rao, as per the instruction of underworld don Bannanje Raja. Meanwhile, the police have initiated a search for a person named Harish Tolar, who was also allegedly involved in this crime. SP explained that Harish Tolar had helped Sandeep financially by paying his hospital bills when he was sick and underwent treatment at the hospital, before the murder of Subba Rao. Sandeep repaid this favour by participating in the murder of Subba Rao, the SP said. Sandeep shifted his base to Bangalore after the incident and he was occasionally visiting Mangalore. Meanwhile, the accused kept on changing his mobile phone SIM numbers. Therefore, the police could not elicit much information from his SIM card, SP added. He is also one of the accused in a robbery that took place at the Mangalore Railway Station in the year 2005 and the kidnap  of a businessman from Malappuram in Kerala. Meanwhile Harish Tolar has direct links with the underworld. More details could be extracted only after questioning him further. The police will be seeking police custody of Sandeep in the court, SP revealed. Both the accused had done elaborate home work in advance, for the murder of Subba Rao. They even went to the forests in Kundapur and rehearsed the shoot-out there. They also keenly observed the movements of Subba Rao, Sateeshkumar stated. A motor bike and five bullets have been seized by the police in connection with this murder.
