Karnataka Government has suspended two engineers for releasing an amount of Rs 26 crore in advance to a private contractor for construction of a university building even before the land for the purpose was acquired.
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, Chief Engineer, Mr K Jaiprakash and Mr B L Ravindrababu, Superintending Engineer (PWD) were suspended on July 9 for releasing the amount as "interest free" advance to a private builder for construction of proposed Ra jiv Gandhi Health University complex in Ramanagara, an official release said here on Friday.
The conduct of these officials amounted to indiscipline causing loss to the state exchequer and an inquiry has been ordered against them.
